Chateau Del Mar Wedding in Hickory Hills, IL: Ellie & Shayna

Ellie & Shayna's wedding was amazing, we LOVE winter weddings; specially January ones. There's a sense of renewal and new beginnings everywhere, what a perfect way to start the year. These lovely ladies chose to get ready at their home but in separate rooms. Once they were ready, they had their first look in their living room.

We then headed to the forest preserve, hoping to catch the last bit of light and some snow. I'm glad they brought a blanket (their "something blue") it... was... cold, so worth it though. We wrapped up their photo portion of the day with a confetti cannon, yay.

Then it was off to Chateau Del Mar  for their ceremony and reception. Upon entrance, guests were asked to take seat and a shot as they waited for the brides to make their entrance. Their dads were beaming with pride as they walked their daughters down the aisle, their moms were tearing up, what a blessing it is to be a part of such a moment. After the wonderful vows, they kissed and left for a minute alone.

All the parents gave a toast, all the dads got to dance. They had a double bouquet toss and our very own photo booth. The dancing and sweets were incredible. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your day. Best wishes in your journey as a married couple, salud!

Abbington Banquets Wedding in Glen Ellyn, IL: Beth & Tyler

This was the most beautiful January ever! Who could've thought we would find snow-loving couples like Beth and Tyler? I'm not sure how, just glad we did!

They began their day getting ready at the church. Beth had a cold, but she would NOT let that get in the way of her joy. Before the ceremony, we got each half of the wedding party photos with some strategy to avoid an accidental "first look"

The ceremony was sweet, what I remember most, is Tyler's grandpa Face-timing in from the hospital, I love, love, love how technology connects us. Afterwards, we headed to Hurley Gardens for sunset and night photos... very unique!

They chose Abington Banquets for their reception celebration. The first dance melted my heart, he dipped her, looked at her and kissed her. It all happened so fast and yet so slow. Once the toasts, dances and tossings were done, we stepped out for a few night photos in the snow. Beth, Tyler, we will always remember the joy of your wedding. Thanks for letting us capture it!

Meson Sabika Wedding in Naperville, IL: Jaclyn & Sam

2016 was rich with weekday, intimate weddings at fabulous places. Jaclyn & Sam chose a Wednesday and Meson Sabika for the big day. I got to hang with her and BFF/Matron of Honor while getting ready. Sam and their son quickly followed and we even got to do first look by those sweet stairs.

After their ceremony, we stepped out with just enough light for sweet winter portraits. They had cake, amazing tapas and Jaclyn had a very touching toast to share with Sam, mom and her sister. Congratulations you two!

Brookfield Zoo Engagement: Tiffany & Anthony

Anthony proposed at the Brookfield ZooWhen I asked them to pick a special place for their session , it was a no brainer. We went during their zoo lights celebration on New Years Eve. There was lots to see both during the daytime and of course, it was lit at night! Yes it was very cold, so lots and lots hugging and snuggling were best. Congratulations you two!

Silver Springs State Park Engagement in Yorkville, IL: Allison & Taylor

When we got together with Alli & Taylor to talk about their wedding, we of course asked what they had in mind for their engagement session. She said she absolutely loves everything about right now, specially the bare trees, yay!

We started with the kids for a few photos, Alli's sister was super helpful bringing them and then taking them home. after a round of silliness, we headed towards the Silver Springs State Park. The weather was perfect, the sunset golden and Taylor took us to a spot with a natural spring, so beautiful! Congrats you two! Can't wait for your wedding this fall.

Gaslite Manor Banquets Wedding in Aurora, IL: Jessica & Jake

I first met Jessica & Jake when their son was 6 months old. He was so bald and chunky! Throughout the last 5 years, I've gotten to see and document some their adventures and some of their families' as well. I'm very honored to call them friends. Wedding day finally came this January. They got ready at a hotel nearby and had a first look in the lobby. We then headed towards Gaslite Manor Banquets in Aurora.

The ceremony was very much family centered. They chose a sand ceremony but with a twist. Each grandparent and parent poured sand before they did. It symbolized the strong base they will continue building upon. The reception followed, it was a sea of royal blue! My favorite part was the dance with Jessica and her father. They started out with a slow song and then turned it up with some sweet moves. Oh, and I got to kidnap them for a few night photos and our first attempt at smoke bombs, it turned out awesome. Congratulations you two, I love you so much! Thanks to Krista for helping me capture such  fabulous day!

Waterfall Glen Engagement Session: Caitlyn & Will

We rescheduled this session so many times. We waited and waited and waited for the snow. I'm so glad we did! They chose to go to Waterfall Glen, one of my favorite spots! It is a huge park, I believe the trail is 9 miles long.

We walked around a bit, then went by the fire pit. Will got to work building a cozy fire. They brought along their favorite blankets and brand new Mr. & Mrs. mugs awwww. Congrats you two, I had a blast with you and can't wait for the wedding!

Prairie Street Brewhouse Wedding in Rockford, IL: Rachel & Michael

Rachel and Michael wed on a fabulously snowy day. They held both their ceremony and reception at Prairie Street BrowhouseThis place was an instant favorite for me. The ceremony was warm and intimate while the reception was open and festive. Michael and his groomsmen enjoyed the bar area while Rachel and her bridesmaids got ready! They chose to have a first look, yay! We then got to do some photos around the brewery.

During their ceremony, they mixed salt and shared private vows. They also handed flowers to their parents and grandparents. It's so special when couples give a bit of time to these great people who helped them so very much.

The reception got started with introductions and toasts. Then dinner, which was... amazing! Best wedding food ever, burgers, cheese curds and house made potato chips. I found a heart shaped cheese curd that was ring-shot-worthy! After their dances, we went around the brewery for some sweet night photos. Cheers to your love!

IBEW Local 176 in Joliet, IL: Jessica's Quince

Jessica celebrated her 15th birthday in style! We had an incredibly warm day and took full advantage. We headed to the best rooftop in the city for some fun photos. We them climbed on the party bus towards the church for mass and blessings.

The reception that followed was incredible, the decor was top notch, I'm officially in love with those balloons! When she got introduced, her brothers pulled a sled into the room. She wanted to celebrate in a traditional way, which includes changing into her first pair of heels, dancing with her parents, dancing with her court of honor and a toast. Best part was the surprise dance, the kids all did so well with the choreography her auntie planned out.

Congratulations Jessica! You are one outstanding young woman, it was an honor capturing your day!

Tami & Mark's Wedding: Willowbrook Ballroom in Willow Springs, IL 2.28.15

What a fantastic winter wedding Tami & Mark had! She is super talented, she knitted shawls for her bridesmaids, herself and even made one for tossing (in lieu of a bouquet).  Everything took place at The Willowbrook BallroomTami's brother was the Iron Maiden of Honor, Mark's sister was the Best Lady.  I love when couples' wedding are such an explosion and celebration of themselves! They had touching speeches, tasty cake, heartfelt dances and best of all snow.  The

January Ann Photography assisted me in capturing their love story.  Which, as their friends and family know, it began last millennium!

Congratulations you two! Best wishes for all that lies ahead!

Baby L

Baby L and I seriously bonded today.  He slept on my chest while waiting for daddy to come back from an errand.  Before that, he let me bend him and pose him at will.  I love his soccer outfit the most.  Cutest MVP, right?

During our maternity session, mom and dad braved the cold and couldn't wait to show their team spirit.  Time will tell which team he'll root for, in the mean time, stay little; you little baby you.

Baby C

I get genuinely excited about the homes these babies get to live in, and the parents they get to have.  Baby C is one of these lucky souls.  Mom and dad are just over the moon with this child, and rightfully so, he arrived just shy of their first wedding anniversary.  He is one of the smallest babies I've ever photographed.  That, and his sweet pterodactyl noises won me over too. Welcome to earth Baby C!

Baby A

Baby A was 5 days old when we met, face to face that is.  We had already sort of met during the maternity session.  She really enjoys sleeping on her side, when I placed her on the baby bed, she just melted into the soft jersey.  Mom told that's exactly how she sleeps, so I didn't move her at all.  She also loves being a human burrito and I love making burritos.  It was great to finally see her face, mostly though, it was great playing with her hair.  Thanks for letting me bend you for a bit, Baby A.

Alize's Personality Session

This girl and her friends were a dream to work with.  It was far, it was cold but they rocked it.  Before the Quiceañera, I do a personality session to capture who they are, right now without the rush and pressure of a big party.  Alize chose the Navy Pier Winter Wonderfest and it was perfect.  We came on a Monday, it was empty! There were barely any lines for the rides or ice skating.  After a little while, we snuck out for some outdoor photos of just her.  Fabulous day, cold, cold, cold but magical nonetheless.  Can't wait for Q day!

Kathy & Pete's Wedding: Batavia, IL 12.31.14

Kathy & Pete got married on New Years Eve at their church. Friends and family braved the cold and came out to witness their big moment. After everyone was gone, we went around the church for some photos of just them.  In the mean time, we set up a tinsel backdrop that was just too appropriate for these two.  What a fantastic way to end the year and start the next.  We are thrilled for you, congratulations!
