Illinois backyard wedding photos

Backyard farm wedding: Elizabeth & Russell

Elizabeth grew up on her family’s farm, which was the perfect place for a wedding. She got ready in her childhood bedroom with her bridesmaids. Russell and his groomsmen showed up a bit later, ready to model. The guys were super fun to work with, once those photos were done, we hid Russell and brought out Elizabeth and the girls for some photos. Their ceremony had a gorgeous backdrop of soybeans, sunflowers and her mother’s beautiful artsy pieces of glass and metal.

Russell is a jeweler and made both wedding rings! Hers features pumpkin vines, her favorite thing and his is made from a meteorite! They also grew their own flowers, one of her bridesmaids made the cake, it takes a village! After the ceremony and a hearty round of family photos, guests enjoyed delicious vegan food, lawn games and music. During the first dance he picked her up and spun her about 5 times, so fast too!

What a beautiful day, I truly felt blessed to experience it, cheers to your beautiful union!

Backyard Wedding in Hebron, IL: Fabiola & Tony

Fabiola & Tony win for hottest wedding ever! High 90s the whole day but we actually hit 100 degrees during the ceremony. At some point I thought my pants fused to my legs permanently.

It all took place in a family member’s back yard nestled amongst lots of Illinois corn. The ceremony was super sweet with her grandma officiating and the other family members sponsoring the traditional arras (coins), lasso, sand and bible. Once they kissed, it was time for a hearty round of family photos. Once those were done, lots of guests changed into cooler outfits, I rolled up my pants to air out my hams.

We then got some photos with their wedding party and of course, each other. I love how they look at each other! Once we got to the reception area, they cut their cake. The toasts were very emotional, lots of happy tears! Later on, they did all those cool dances I like, including the sea snake!

What a hot, magical, hot, lovely, hot, amazing hot day! It ended with fireworks! I feel lucky to have captured your day. Felicidades Fabi y Tony, salud!

Family Farm Wedding in Batavia IL: Francis & Dan

Francis & Dan are my spirit animals. Seriously, they farm, they Illinois-it up, they joke around, eat salsa, love their pup, dance and don't care... yet, they do. When I met them, I seriously shouted to the skies "please let them hire me for their wedding" and they did!

First off, like every September wedding I've been a part of... it rained. But that didn't dampen their spirits or the heart of the celebration. They had an amazing tent set up and a couple of tractors to entertain. Their ceremony was officiated by her brother, it was short but very, very sweet. Then the mariachi sang, ahhhhh! We had a bit of time for wedding party and pup photos following (a priority if I'm involved).

There was SO MUCH DANCING, dollar, line, bachata, you name it, it happened. The whole thing was magical, thank so much for choosing us to photograph your wedding, salud!

Hickory Knolls Discovery Center Wedding in St. Charles, IL: Kristen & Matthew

Kristen & Matthew had the hottest wedding ever! It was 95 degrees all day, and the reception was outdoors! We need wedding shorts for the next season!

The lovely couple chose to have their first look and ceremony at Hickory Knolls Discovery Center in St Charles, IL. We had loads of time and got their bridesmaid and groomsmen in on the action. What a fun wedding party! They had sunglasses, footballs and super hero undershirts, they rocked it. The ceremony was not at all the beginning of their adventure. It was more of a celebration of the 10 years they've been together and all the trials they endured. After heartfelt vows and a bubble exit, they headed down to their backyard reception.

The reception was hot, so very, very hot. The dancing was incredible, the food was tasty and the glow sticks were a huge hit. It was incredible day, thanks for having us. We wish you the best in all your new adventures.
